Powerful ivory netsuke capturing the legendary figure of General Guan Yu, a hero of Chinese history and a symbol of courage, loyalty and honour.

The sculpture accurately captures the general's distinctive features, such as the thick beard, a symbol of wisdom and strength, and the long blade, "Guan dao" a symbol of his valor in battle.

The artist worked carefully to capture the expression on the general's face, conveying his determination and dignity.
