Important Empire period chased and gilt bronze clock featuring Diana the Huntress. The dial, signed L.Mallet in Paris, shows the hours in Roman numerals. It is set in a terminal in the form of a fountain surmounted by a vase.
Leaning against the fountain, Diana the Huntress holds an arrow above her head, a quiver at her feet. Her dog and a bird are pendant. The whole rests on a finely chiseled base depicting a stag hunt, flanked by vine branches and horns of plenty ending in the form of hooves on a porphyry terrace.
Very fine original gilding.
Good working condition.
Parisian work circa 1810.
