17th century, Italian Baroque Large Walnut Chest of Drawers

This large baroque dresser was made in the Lombard-Venetian area, Italy, in the seventeenth century. The structure is in solid walnut. On the front, the three large drawers are veneered in walnut briar with inlays in light woods. The chromatic play that is created between the particular effect of the briar and the inlays is of great elegance and decoration. Inside the clear and lobed frames are inlaid plant and floral elements. The base of the dresser and the frame under the top are molded and slightly projecting. The sides are decorated with a lozenge with inside briar mirrors and floral inlays.
The cantilever feet have a mixed and wavy profile that gives movement to the overall architectural composition.

This dresser can be placed in different environments, such as rooms and studios, bedrooms, combined with antique or modern furniture. Its large size suggests that it was built for an important environment characterized by large spaces.
