Inscribed on the back of the paper by Michael Jaffe's hand « D A 76'. The present work bears some comparison to figure drawings by Girolamo da Carpi (1501-1556)." This sheet of study for the Draped female figure can be closely related to one by Carlo Urbino in the Louvre (inv. no. 5422) and to the 3 studies of Saint Paul (Auction sale, Sotheby’s New York, lot 72) and to Saint Marc.
