Léon Jean Bazile PERRAULT was born on June 20, 1832 in Poitiers and he died in 1908 in Royan, he is a painter of history, of genre scenes, of portraits, of religious scenes and a draughtsman. He was taught by Bouguereau at the Ecole des Beaux Arts in Paris, a city where he exhibited throughout his life and received numerous awards. He also exhibited in London, Vienna and Philadelphia, etc... His works are in museums in France and abroad.
This magnificent portrait is a fine example of his talent as a portraitist.
