Thomas Heeremans was a Dutch painter and art dealer. He was born in 1641 in the Dutch city of Haarlem. He specialized in both summer and winter landscapes, in which he frequently incorporated people. His scenes are often set in small, unidentifiable villages of Holland. According to the RKD he was previously called Frederik Hendrik Mans, probably because he signed his name "THMANS" with the "THM" together, leading dealers to assume his name was F.H. Mans.
Heeremans introduced rather lively movements in this scene, which is populated by many villages engaged in various activities such as drinking, fishing and merrymaking. We can detect the influence of Klaes Molenaer, a slightly older painter who was also from Haarlem.
