Enamel brooch, Josef Hoffmann, Johann Souval for the Wiener Werkstätte, model number M177, copper and enamel gilt, marked, ca. 1910
Josef Hoffmann was one of the most active designers of the Wiener Werkstätte. His most famous works include enameled jewelry, some of which was executed directly at the Wiener Werkstätte but also outsourced to the enameller Johann Souval in Vienna. Our brooch was designed before 1910 and also executed around that time. There were several models in the basic colors black, blue and white.
