A silver and carved mother of pearl snuff box.

The lid of the snuff box is set with a carved mother of pearl plaque with a mythical animal which would have originated from China and mounted as a snuff box by an English silversmith in the early 18th century.

The reverse of the silver mount is engraved with the initials of its original owner ‘M:M’.

Measures 7.6 x 6 x 1.5cm.
