André Beronneau was born in 1886 in Bordeaux and died in 1973. He painted mainly seaside landscapes, sometimes in Brittany and much more frequently in the south of France as shown by this beautiful oil on canvas which represents two fishing boats in the port of Saint-Tropez. André Beronneau has accustomed us to luminous compositions bursting with color. This painting is one of his favorite themes: fishing boats with colored sails, two or three fishermen working, the harbor in the background, the sky and the deep blue sea that serve as a backdrop to the whole.
André Beronneau exhibited at the Salon des indépendants in Paris from 1926 to 1935.
The painting is signed on the lower right, the frame, annotated on the back, fishing boats golf of St Tropez, measures 50 cm x 65 cm. It has been preserved in its original Louis XV style frame in wood and gilded stucco, the latter has a beautiful appearance but it has been renovated in the past and remains fragile, its dimensions are 67 cm x 81.5 cm.
