Michele Marieschi is an Italian painter and engraver born in Venice in 1696 and died in this city in 1743.
He spent the first part of his career in Germany where his works were highly esteemed.
Back in Venice, he painted many views of the city.
By mixing real landscapes and imaginary ancient ruins, the painter willingly went from “Vedutta” to “Caprice”, two genres very popular in the city of the Doges.
