Very fine oil on canvas depicting a senior Chinese official, and his entourage, all dressed in sumptuous costumes. The scene is bordered on either side of Chinese wooden architectural elements.
This scene is directly inspired by the painted decoration made in “Pallazina Cinese”, an exotic Chinese hunting pavilion built by Giuseppe Venanzio Marvuglia in 1799 in the Parc of Favorita, Palermo, for the king of the Two Sicilies, Ferdinand III of Bourbon and Queen Marie-Caroline.
