Important Empire period clock in finely chased and gilded bronze featuring Diana the Huntress.
The dial signed L.Mallet in Paris indicates the hours in Roman numerals.
It is set in a terminal in the form of a fountain topped by a vase.
Leaning against the fountain, Diana the hunter holds an arrow above her head, a quiver
her head, a quiver at her feet. In the background, her dog and a bird.
The whole rests on a very finely chiseled base representing a stag hunt flanked by vine branches and horns of plenty that end in the form of hooves in the form of hooves on a porphyry terrace.
It has a cleaned and revised wire movement, its balance and key.
Very nice original gilding.
Parisian work circa 1810.
