Furniture and Works of Art from the 17th, 18th and early 19th century
This console is composed of a winged putti in the round in blackened wood holding a quiver on the side. On his head rests the tray covered with a marble mosaic in which are included on each side a drawer.
This console takes up the codes of the great Baroque art developed in the 17th century by Bernini in Rome. It was Andréa Brustolon (Belluno 1662-1732), a Genoese sculptor, who developed all the furniture carved with figures in the round for prestigious Italian families such as the Corrers, Verriers and San Simeone.
This repertoire will be taken up in France by the artists of the reign of Louis XIV and will flourish in particular on the cabinets.
