Cabinet jewel box attributed to Placido Zuloaga (1834-1910)

Hispano-Moorish inspired cabinet-coffret, made of engraved steel, gilt bronze, ivory, hard stones (carnelian, lapis lazuli) and four columns in red Egyptian porphyry at the corners, opening with a lid at the top. Two doors in the front reveal three drawers veneered with ivory. On the sides are two articulated handles, in finely chased gilt bronze.

Attributed to Placido Zuloaga (1834-1910), whose main activity was the manufacture of armory objects in Eibar, Spain. He remains most famous as the designer of chased iron art objects for a refined clientele.

His works can be found today in prestigious collections:
- Musée d'Orsay, Paris
- Royal Collections of Great Britain
- Royal Collections of Spain
