These large three-light sconces are made of a plate with a plant interlacing pattern, the asymmetrical sconces end in different capitals (Ionic, Corynthian, beaded crown, the three binets are different as almost always in Regency sconces, the central one is decorated with leaves and berries, the two binets below are in Medici and cut.
The counter cups are in the shape of flowers with contrasting decorations from one applique to the other. These are rare and exceptional models with their elegant, provided and unusual design.
We find the hallmark with the crowned C on one arm of each sconce, this hallmark corresponding to a tax called "small extraordinary tax" collected from 1745 to 1749 to pay for the Austrian campaigns of Louis XV.
This tax was collected for any bronze or copper object manufactured, resold, restored, gilded during this period. Previous objects such as these sconces can therefore be hallmarked, if during the above-mentioned period they were gilded or restored or sold, then having to be subject to the tax and hallmarked with the crowned C.
This hallmark is valuable because it undoubtedly confirms the period dating of a bronze or copper object.
On the other hand, we will note among other details the wide threads and the notched nuts typical of the techniques of the Ancien Régime.
