Gold fringe necklace with Ancient Nicolo intaglios. Roman,1st - 2nd century

A gold fringe necklace set with eight ancient Nicolo intaglios.

The intaglios are all Roman and date to the 1st - 2nd century AD.

The necklace dates to 1970’s the clasp is marked with an eagles head poinçon denoting the gold purity as 18 carat.

The necklace measures 43cm in length.

The intaglios range from 0.9 - 1.8cm in height.

In total there are nine pendant drops, however one is a simple specimen agate dating to the 19th century which balances the ensemble.
