Known under the title: "Music or young girl playing the cello", elegant bronze statuette patina medal, after the work of Louis Ernest Barrias. Edited in the early twentieth century (around 1905) by the foundry Fumière and Gavignot successors of Victor Thiébaut in Paris, (signature and stamp of cast iron on the base), very beautiful state of presentation.
Louis Ernest Barrias was born in Paris (1841/1905) son of a miniaturist, he entered the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in the studio of Jouffroy in 1858, second in 1861 then first prize of Rome in 1865 he exhibited at the Salon until 1904. Member of the Academy and professor at the Institute, he was also named Knight of the Legion of Honor in 1878 (Commander in 1900). Nowadays Barrias' works are exhibited in the most prestigious museums.
