Offered by Anne Besnard
This natural wood Régence console table is made of walnut for the base and ash or acacia for the top, which is curved to follow the curve of the table. The openwork belt features a rich, exuberant decoration typical of Provencal furniture, with a large shell on the front, and a flying dragon with outstretched wings in the center of the crosspiece, carved in the round. The side rails are openwork and carved with a shell. The pronounced curves of the uprights are adorned with a garland of falling flowers, and are also richly carved with acanthus leaves, one of which is in full bloom at the connection to the belt. This piece of furniture is in excellent condition, with one or two very small pieces and the front left foot warped over time.
